Spring Football: Big Ten Spring Football

second installment of the previous spring. This time it's the turn of the Big Ten , which in 2011 has a new intregante. These are the Nebraska Cornhuskers who left Big 12. With this new competition format changed dramatically. The 12 teams will be divided into two divisions: Legends and Leaders . The champions of each will face in the new conference finals in Lucas Oil Stadium of Indianapolis.

What will not change is the name, causing the curious situation that Big 12 has ten teams and the Big Ten twelve. I found it impossible to find information on the early enrollees, so I surpimido that paragraph.

Wisconsin Badgers

Record 2010: 11-2 (Co-Champions Big Ten).
Bowl 2010: Defeat in the Rose Bowl vs. TCU (21-19). Low
important OT RB John Clay and Gabe Carimi and JJ Watt. Main
returns: RB James White, RB Montee Ball and Henry Aaron FS.
Spring Practices Start: 22 March.
Spring Game: April 23 .
Analysis: The style of play will not change. The Badgers were in 2010 one of the teams more powerful in the running game. The best news for fans of Wisconsin is the retention of its OC Paul Chryst and OL coach Bob Bostad who have been in the focus of many programs. Despite the low John Clay, the Badgers retrieved White Ball and will share ownership. The trend Ground attack to take pressure off Jod Budmayr that part as the main candidate to be the owner QB because Curt Phillips will be absent through injury. In defense will have to recover from the departure of Dave Doer DC and the major casualties DE as Watt JJ, LB Culmer St. Jean and Jay Valai SS.

Ohio State Buckeyes

Record 2010: 12-1 (Co-Champions Big Ten).
Bowl 2010: Sugar Bowl Victory vs. Arkansas (31-26). Low
important RB Brandon Saine, DE Cameron Heyward and DB Chimdi Chedkwa. Main
returns: QB Terrelle Pryor, RB Dan Herron and WR Devier Posey.
Spring Practices Start: March 31.
Spring Game: April 23 .
Analysis: Sports What happened to the background after the circumstances that have surrounded the Columbus program. Its main star of the attack were punished with 5 games. Among them is the QB Terrelle Pryor , so during practice live a brutal competition to win the post at the beginning of the season. In defense, the secondary is the main lagoon, where they will have to overcome the departure of three starters.

Michigan State Spartans

Record 2010: 11-2 (Co-Champions Big Ten).
Bowl 2010: Defeat in the Capital One Bowl vs. Alabama (49-7). Low
important LB Greg Jones, LB Eric Gordon and DJ Young OT. Main
returns: QB Kirk Cousins, RB Edwin Barker and DT Jerel Wourthy.
Spring Practices Start: 22 March.
Spring Game: April 30 .
Analysis: the humiliating loss to Alabama the Capital One Bowl left a sour taste for the Spartans in a season full of emotions. Looking to 2011 retrieved Kirk Cousins \u200b\u200bhas been gaining weight and importance within the team, the problem will come when reconstructing a battered OL, for it will have a number of JUCO transfer. The defense has an important place in the LB corps after the departure of Greg Jones and Eric Gordon that have held the past four years.

Nebraska Cornhuskers

Record 2010: 10-4 (1st Big 12 North, finalist Big 12).
Bowl 2010: Defeat in the Holiday Bowl vs. Washington (19-7). Low
important Amukamara Prince CB, WR Niles Paul and S Eric Hagg. Main
returns: QB Taylor Martinez, LB Lavonte David and DT Jared Crick.
Spring Practices Start: March 14.
Spring Game: April 16 .
Analysis: New conference batteries charged with excitement. The defense is as always his strong point. Jared Crick did not meet all expectations and will return for 2011, another will be back is the Lavonte LB David who led the team in tackles. However, notice the absence of secondary Amukamara and Hagg . In attack, the main objective is to acquire an identity. In 2010 they were at the expense of what made his freshman QB Taylor Martinez That although postive surprised everyone, suffered from continuity. Falling Roy Helu be well covered by Rex Burkhead .

I owa Hawkeyes

Record 2010: 8-5 (4th Big Ten)
Bowl 2010: Victoria in the Insight Bowl vs. Missouri (27-24). Low
important Ricy QB Stanzi, WR Derrell Johnson-Koulianos and DE Adrian Clayborn. Main
returns: WR Marvin McNutt, OT Shaun Reily Reff and CB Prater. Spring Home
Practices: March 21.
Spring Game: April 16 .
Analysis: Ricky Stanzi has been the real leader of the Hawkeyes the past 3 years, with his departure James Vanderberg must assume its role. Vandenberg has responded well the two games he had to make a Stanzi. In 2011 will tell if it is able to do so from the beginning of the season. The defense also needs young players who face the pressure, especially on the DL where the ends Adrian Clayborn and Christian Ballard and DT Karl Klug, leave a very important gap.

Illinois Fighting Illini

Record 2010: 7-6 (5 º Big Ten)
Bowl 2010: Bowl victory in the Texas vs Baylor (38-14) Low
important Mikel Leshoure RB, LB Martez Wilson and DT Corey Liuget. Principales
returns: QB Nathan Scheelhaasse, FS Trulon Henry and OT Jeff Allen.
Spring Practices Start: March 29.
Spring Game: April 23 .
Analysis: Ron Zook six seasons has needed to do something important with Illinois, but when everything seemed to take good channel, arrives 2011 with heavy casualties. RB Mikel Leshoure was instrumental for the Fighting Illini agree to play a Bowl, his departure leaves the promising QB, Scheelhaasse main hope for repeat success. In defense casualties are also very important. highlights of Wilson and Liuget who left college early to fall in the NFL.

Penn State Nittany Lions

Record 2010: 7-6 (6 º Big Ten)
Bowl 2010: Derrota en la Outback vs Florida (37-24).
Bajas importantes: RB Evan Royster, G Stephen Wisnieski y DT Ollie Ogbu.
Principales retornos: WR Derek Moye, CB D'Anton Lynn y QB Matt McGloin.
Inicio Spring Practices: 18 de marzo.
Spring Game: 16 de abril.
Análisis: El interés estará en ver quien consigue hacerse con el puesto de QB titular. Tanto McGloin como Bolden , que finalmente permanecerá en Pennsylvania tras rumores de transfer , mostraron en 2010 algunos flashes of quality, but lacked the continuity necessary to return to Paterno of the elite. The eight owners returning on a defense that was at a high level in 2010, probably take some pressure off the attack.

Michigan Wolverines

Record 2010: 7-6 (7 º Big Ten)
Bowl 2010: Defeat in the Gator Bowl vs. Mississippi State (52-14) . Low
important OG Stephen Schilling, LB Jonas Mouton and LB Obi Ezeh. Principales
returns: QB Denard Robinson, WR Roy Rountree and DT Mike Martin.
Spring Home Practices: 19 March.
Spring Game: April 16 .
Analysis: 2010 was a boom or bust for Rich Rod . At the end was bust and the qualification for a bowl was not engaged in the spread guru being fired. In 2011 the Wolverines starting from scratch, incorporating as HC Brady Hoke. The attack will abandon the spread to acquire a more traditional system that fits the story of Ann Arbour . The question is whether Denard Robinson fit into it. Defensively, things will also give a radical la llegada since the NFL Greg Mattison , Once in 2010 consiguieran stop anyone.

Northwestern Wildcats

2010 Record: 7-6 (8 Big Ten)
Bowl 2010: Defeat in Ticketcity Bowl vs. Texas Tech (45-38)
Bajas important: WR Sidney Stewart, LB Nate Williams and DT Corbin Bryant.
Principales returns: QB Dan Persian, WR Jeremy Ebert and SS Brian Peters.
Top Spring Practice: March 7.
Spring Game: April 16 .
Analysis: Persian Dan is working hard to get back as much as possible after tearing Achilles' heel in the match Iowa. In 2010 it was demonstrated that Persian is a key part of this team. After his injury the Wildcats lost their last three matches, matches, going from a promising 7-3, the final 7-6 after losing to Texas Tech in Ticketcity Bowl. To repeat the postseason will need to present their star back.

Purdue Boliermakers

Record 2010: 4-8 (9th Big Ten)
Low important DE Ryan Kerrigan, G Justin Pierce and LB Jason Werner. Main
returns: OT Dennis Kelly, Dwayne Beckford LB and RB Ralph Bolden.

Spring Practices Start: March 1.
Spring Game: April 9 .
Analysis: Purdue began training the first day of March and expand the remaining 14 practices over the next 2 months, which will give them the ability to work longer to have more rest time between them . Robert Marve must fight to regain his position as QB, after his injury in 2010, with Rob Henry . A player is impossible to replace Ryan Kerrigan that not only leave a gaping hole in the defense, but his leadership on and off the field was vital for Boilemakers .

Minnesota Golden Gophers

2010 Record: 3-9 (10th Big Ten)
Low important QB Adam Weber, DJ C SS Buris and Kyle Theret. Main
returns: G Chris Bunders , QB MarQueis Gray and LB Gary Tinsley.
Spring Practices Start: March 24.
Spring Game: April 23 .
Analysis: The stage Tim Brewster was not too bright and Golden Gophers are in the depths of the FBS. Time is now for Jerry Kill facing the challenge of changing the face of this program. For that they need to MarQueis Gray, a great athlete but has not proven anything as a QB, be prepared to meet the low Adam Weber. In defense it is vital that some of the young of a step forward and be able to lead a formation that was disappointing in 2010.

Indiana Hoosiers

2010 Record: 5-7 (11th Big Ten)
Low important QB Ben Chappell, LB Tyler Replogle and OT James Brewer. Main
returns: Damarlo Belcher WR, LB Jeff Thomas and Darius Johnson.
Spring Practices Start: March 8.
Spring Game: April 16 .
Analysis: The Hoosiers will return to his entire receiving corps, but the big question is who will supply Chapell as QB. Edward Wright-Baker and Dusty Kiel are the contenders. To improve performance offensive comes as HC Kevin Wilson, who Oklahoma did a great job as OC. The defense will also have to improve from 2010 where were the second most points received at the conference. Seven owners return, but not Tyler Replogle who led the team in tackles, sacks and TFL.
