Florida Heisman winners to honor with a statue


University Florida announced this morning that his three Heisman Trophy winners be honored with a statue. The tribute will take place on April 9 for the rest of Sping Game, The statues will be located on the west side of Ben Hill Griffin Stadium . The money for construction comes from private donations. One of the honorees, r Steve Spurrier, can not attend the ceremony, as it coincides with the celebration of the Spring Game of South Carolina , equipment which is currently the coach. There is speculation that record a message that will be played during the ceremony through the scoreboards.

Steve Spurrier became the first Gator to win the Heisman . He played for the Gators as QB from 1963 to 1966, which received the highest individual award in the College Football. During those three years Spurrier became one of the most prolific pin the program's history. After playing in the NFL for 9 years for the San Francisco 49ers began his coaching career debut in Gainesville just as QB coach. After going through Georgia Tech and Duke among others, returned to his alma mater and as HC remain in office for 11 years, where he won a National Championship in 1996. After leaving office became the HC Washington Redskins 2002 and 2003 seasons, but the professional tour was not entirely satisfactory. The following year he returned to the College Football becoming the coach of the South Carolina Gamecocks , since it occupies today.

The other two honorees are also QB Danny Wuerffel's and Tim Tebow . The first won the Heisman in 1996, which under the control of Spurrier, the Gators won their second national title. Tim Tebow is the latest champion, having won the trophy in 2007. Unlike their predecessors did not match victory in the National Championship, which however would the following year.

Following the tradition of statues in the SEC, have already come to light some images that show the statue will serve as a tribute to Nick Saban in the traditional walk of champions of Bryant Denny Stadium , where are located the other four coaches that made the Crimson Tide national champions, namely Wallace Wade, Frank Thomas , and Paul Bryant which joined in 2009 Nick Saban. The ceremony will take place on April 16 to mark the A-Day.
